1. Project Overview
1.1 Strategic EPC-Supporting Supply for Regional Grid Stability
On March 26, 2025, Zhejiang Jingyu Technology Co., Ltd (JYDQ) successfully completed the core equipment energization for a landmark 110kV distribution station project in the Middle East. This integrated power transmission hub serves as a critical node in the regional grid, delivering reliable 110kV switching, transformation, metering, and protection for both urban and industrial loads.
The project involved the complete supply of primary high-voltage equipment — including 110kV SF₆ gas-insulated circuit breakers (LW series), oil-immersed power transformers (S11/S13 series), outdoor vacuum circuit breakers (ZW7 series), high-accuracy instrument transformers (CT/VT), and high-voltage disconnect switches (GW4/GW5 series). Every unit was engineered, manufactured, routine-tested, and shipped from JYDQ's ISO-certified facility in Wenzhou, Zhejiang.
JYDQ's engineering team provided customized desert-climate adaptations: enhanced UV-resistant coatings, IP65-rated sealing against fine sand ingress on all control cabinets, and temperature-compensated SF₆ density monitors — ensuring reliable operation under ambient temperatures exceeding 50°C and frequent sandstorms.

2. On-Site Construction & Commissioning
2.1 Precision Execution from Foundation to Energization
JYDQ deployed a dedicated on-site commissioning team who worked alongside the local EPC contractor throughout the installation phase. Their responsibilities included equipment positioning verification, foundation alignment checks, inter-bay busbar connections, secondary wiring supervision, and pre-commissioning test procedures — all conducted to IEC 62271 and IEC 60076 standards.
The outdoor switchyard features JYDQ's 110kV SF₆ live-tank circuit breakers mounted on reinforced concrete support structures, flanked by high-accuracy instrument transformers and robust disconnect switches. Despite challenging logistics and a demanding timeline, all primary equipment passed the rigorous site acceptance tests (SAT) — including power-frequency and lightning-impulse withstand voltage tests, SF₆ gas leakage verification, circuit-breaker timing tests, and insulation resistance measurements — with all parameters well within IEC specifications.

3. Core Technology: 110kV SF₆ Circuit Breaker
3.1 LW Series Dead-Tank Design — IEC 62271-100 Type-Tested
At the heart of the distribution station's protection architecture are JYDQ's LW-series 110kV SF₆ gas-insulated circuit breakers. Each unit features a live-tank design with sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆) as both the arc-quenching and insulating medium, delivering superior interrupting performance across all fault scenarios.

4. Power Heart: 110kV Oil-Immersed Transformer
4.1 S11/S13 Series — Pure Copper, High Efficiency
JYDQ supplied S11/S13 series 110kV oil-immersed power transformers featuring 99.9% high-purity oxygen-free copper windings — a critical advantage for minimizing load losses and ensuring long-term thermal stability. The transformers are equipped with ONAF (Oil Natural Air Forced) cooling systems, enabling sustained operation at full rated capacity even during peak Middle Eastern summer temperatures.

5. Distribution Protection: ZW7 VCB & Auxiliary Systems
5.1 ZW7-40.5 Outdoor Vacuum Circuit Breaker — Maintenance-Free Reliability
For the medium-voltage distribution segments, the project deployed JYDQ's ZW7-40.5/12 outdoor vacuum circuit breakers. These units utilize vacuum interrupter technology — the globally preferred arc-quenching method for medium-voltage applications — offering maintenance-free operation for 10,000 mechanical cycles. The ZW7 series features CT-integrated protection, spring-operated mechanisms, and remote SCADA-compatible control interfaces for real-time monitoring and automated fault clearing.
Complementing the circuit breakers, the distribution station is equipped with GW4 and GW5 series outdoor high-voltage disconnect switches — providing visible isolation gaps for safe maintenance operations — and high-accuracy current and voltage instrument transformers (CT/VT) for precision metering and protection relaying. All auxiliary equipment was supplied with hot-dip galvanized steel structures for superior corrosion resistance in the region's harsh environment.

Building on the successful commissioning of this landmark 110kV distribution station, JYDQ is now actively engaged in follow-up O&M support and long-term spare parts supply to ensure sustained grid reliability. The project not only underscores JYDQ's proven capability in delivering turnkey EPC-supporting solutions for high-voltage substations under extreme desert conditions but also positions the company as a preferred partner for regional utility authorities and industrial developers.
Looking ahead, JYDQ is bidding on multiple 132kV and 220kV substation tenders across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, leveraging its IEC-compliant manufacturing base, flexible customization workflows, and responsive overseas technical support teams. The company's commitment to R&D innovation — particularly in SF₆-free switchgear alternatives and digitally enabled transformer monitoring systems — aligns with the Middle East's growing focus on smart grid modernization and carbon-reduction roadmaps.
With over 15 years of export experience to more than 40 countries, JYDQ continues to strengthen its local service network, including regional warehousing and authorized repair centers.
